Media update (June 6th)
So far we've received 79 applications for accreditation from journalists and other media personnel. We look forward to welcoming them all to the 'Friendly' Games next month.
Ella Slack, our Media C0-ordinator, will shortly be sending all those duly accredited with an information sheet detailing all the arrangements she and her team have put in place. A copy of the sheet will shortly appear on this site.

If by chance you haven't yet applied for accreditation it's not quite too late! However if you wish to attend the Games Opening Ceremony on Saturday July 7th then you must get your application for accreditation in by June 30th.

More than 20 television and radio journalists attended two media planning days hosted by the NatWest Island Games 2001 Executive Committee at the end of Janauary.

The purpose of the planning days was to invite broadcast media from the UK area to specify their requirements for facilities during the Games in July, and to enable open discussions between them and Isle of Man-based TV and radio companies.

Media co-ordinator, Ella Slack, said: 'We are grateful to everyone who was able to attend the planning days as their input was very helpful to us in establishing the overall hardware and communications requirements of the media rooms (at the National Sports Centre) and the press centre (at the TT Grandstand). We are also interested in hearing from anyone else from the participating islands who will be sending radio and TV representatives to cover the NatWest Island Games 2001. Anyone who has requests, suggestions or queries about the provision of media facilities can contact us at any time.'

All media, including of course press journalists, can contact Ella Slack or her assistant, press officer Daphne Caine, at the Department of Tourism and Leisure, Sea Terminal, Douglas, Isle of Man IM7 1HN or email daphne.caine@dtl.gov.im .

Meanwhile anyone planning to cover the NatWest Island Games 2001 being held from July 7-13 is urged to secure their hotel accommodation and hire car as soon as possible. Demand is already extremely high for the week of the Games. Media accreditation forms can now be obtained from the Games Administrator, Gary Jakeman, or by downloading the form here ( the form will open in a new window - just select File and then Save As from the top title bar ).
Completed forms should be returned to Gary sooner rather than later ! Gary's address is on the form - it is c/o National Sports Centre, Groves Road, Douglas, Isle of Man IM2 1RB.
