TEAM EVENT
This will be played exactly as in Gotland in two stages: First on a group basis
and then there will be play-off matches to determine the final positions.
In the first stage, the ten teams will play in two groups of five playing every
other team in their group to determine a ranking order for each group. The groups
are decided on the positions in the Gotland games.
Group A | Group B |
Gotland | Isle of Wight |
Guernsey | Jersey |
Faroes | Isle of Man |
Greenland | Shetland |
Saaremaa | Orkney |
In the second stage, the winner of each group will play the runner-up in the
other group and the third placed team in each group will play the fourth in
the other and the fifth placed teams will play each other (for final positions
9 and 10)
In the third stage, the winners of the second stage matches will play each other
for final positions 1,2 and 5, 6 respectively and the losers will play for final
positions 3,4 and 7,8.
Calculation of group results.
A team is awarded 2 match points for a match won, whether it is played or a
walk-over, 1 point for a played match that is lost and zero for a match which
the team fails to play or to complete.
The results in a group are always determined at the highest possible level - by match points rather than by games, by games rather than by balls and that where, at any stage of the calculation, group teams are equal, their relative positions are decided only by the matches between them.
Team composition and match procedure
A team shall consist of 2 men and 1 woman singles players but additional players
may be included for doubles from a nominated maximum of 4 men and 3 women.
Twenty minutes before the match, team captains shall be prepared to make a
draw of home and away teams and then, as soon as possible, nominate the players
for singles.
Nominations for doubles need not be made until immediately before each doubles
match.
A team match shall consist of 4 men's singles, 1 woman's singles, 1 woman's
doubles and 1 mixed doubles, each the best of 3 games. The team match shall
be won by the team winning 4 or more individual matches, but all individual
matches shall be played.
Incomplete teams will be allowed to compete and will expect opposition to play but unplayed games will be defaulted.
All matches will be played on a single table and the order of play shall be:
Men's Single A v X, Women's Single, Men's Single B v Y, Women's Double, Men's
Single A v Y, Mixed Double,
Men's Single B v X .
Jury
The Jury shall consist of the coach of the organising association (Isle of Man),
the Referee and a coach of any other island.
