Ladies Football
Ladies Football on the Isle of Man saw its first Cup Final on 10th March.
A close contest between the two pre title favourites Douglas Royal and
Rushen. Still tied after extra time, the match went to sudden death
penalties which Douglas won 2 - 1
The match was played at the National Sports Centre Outdoor Site which is
the proposed venue for the Ladies Football Tournament in the NatWest Island
Games 2001.
After offering Ladies Football for the 2001 Games the Organising
Committee sought the opinions of all Islands involved concerning the
synthetic pitch. With only one negative response out of 8, it is likely that
Ladies Football will be staged at the National Sports Centre.
The Ladies Football League commences this summer in earnest with 12 teams
involved and after 12 months of non stop action, the Isle of Man will be
fielding an experienced team in the NatWest Island Games 2001.
