Volunteer Recruitment Programme

The Organising Committee announces Volunteer Recruitment Programme for this years Games.......

On Monday 27th November at the National Sports Centre, Douglas, members of the local media were invited to attend a presentation by Ven. Brian Partington. Brian anounced that the Organising Committee were looking to recruit 1,000 volunteers to help with the running of the Games.

There are many key roles which need to be filled by volunteers, eg. we need at least 60 drivers to act as attachés to each of the teams. Because of the nature of the role, we expect this to be done on a shift basis as many team maagers will be working 18 hour days during the week! Gary Jakeman, Games Administrator stated " We will need a large number of people to help as marshals for the Opening Ceremony and hopefully many local people will come forward to assist us on this evening. With over 5,000 competitors and spectators expected in the NSC Outdoor arena, 'crowd control' will be very important, especially when we have to transport 2,500 competitors back to their hotels immediatley after the formalities are completed."
