Draw Live on Manx Radio
On Saturday 10th February 2001, the draw for the Men's
and Ladies' football competitions for the IXth NatWest Island Games
2001 took place live on Manx Radio at the Isle of Man Football Association
Headquarters. Under the watchful eyes of Tony Jones - President
of the IOMFA, Kay BAtty - IGA General Secretary, Brian Partington
- Chariman of the 2001 Games, and Peter Kelly - Football Co-ordinator
for the Games. The Men's competition was seeded following the results
in Gotland. The draw was as follows :

Ladies
With this year being the first year that Ladies football has
actually been played, it has not been possible to seed the competition.
Unlike the men's event which has 12 teams, the Ladies will be split
into 2 groups which means that they will all play one more game
in the group stages than their "counterparts". The draw
is as follows :
Group 1
Group 2
IOW
Faroe Islands
Gotland
IOM
Jersey
Ynys Mon
Aaland
Cayman Islands
Guernsey
Unfortunately having 9 teams in the competition causes
some problems with the number of games which Group 1 teams will
play, but when you take into account "playoffs" for final
positions, it is no different than previous competitions which have
been staged for the men............only 1 rest day.
The scheduling of the competitions will be available by the end
of February and will be presented at the next IGA General meeting
in Guernsey.
